I remember the carefree days of elementary school. Ninja Turtles and Mr. Rogers rocked my world. Screwing around in the yard, making faces at old people, and stealing from Mr. Mercedes garage were my outlet for self-expression and recreation. Oogling at my 21 year old kindergarten teacher while I wasn’t in a fist fight with one of the other kids fills me with nostalgia as I think back on those days fondly.
One Saturday my buddy AJ and myself decided we needed to be awesome. His mom had given him an old Tonka truck that was big enough to sit in. This old toy truck was built Ford tough and we thought it was radical. The football stadium was just up the road from the house. We decided to head over there with the truck because of the steep ramp at the entrance. It should be noted that the stadium was a giant pit in the ground where they used to harvest rock for gravel. Making using of the giant hole, they built a football field in it.
Standing at the top of the steepest and longest ramp ever, AJ said, “Hey Beau, I want to ride down the hill!” Taking a look at the truck and then back to AJ, I thought it was a cool idea. Hopping into the truck, I grabbed the back of it and gave him a good shove.
Gravity immediately kicked in and the old tonka truck picked up amazing speed. 0 to 60 in 4 seconds easy. The wheels made a horrendous racket and sparks started shooting out of the bottom. I was amazed. Before I could even think what was happening, the truck veered left and smashed into the sidewalk. AJ’s limp body sailed and bounced off the cement wall. Landing further down, he rolled about 10 times and slid to a halt. biaya ongkir
Freaked out/giddy with excitement, I ran down to AJ. When I got to him, I could see he was pretty messed up. “AJ, you biffed the truck!” In a bloody heep on the ground, he looked up at me with tears in his eyes and responded, “I hate you.”
